Inhabiting a place sometimes generates a relationship to space that shifts the original intention of what was built. Eight interventions, scattered throughout the city, interrogate this responsive phenomenon and consider the ways that the contemporary environment is actually experienced.
Habiter le contemporain_NOT BUILT FOR THAT is the second phase in the research-creation series of meetings which, for more than one year, brought together Devora Neumark, Pierre Corriveau and Louise Lachapelle to collaboratively explore spaces of mindfulness, the relational dimension of coexistence in our environment and our “responsiveness” to it, as well as the “reactive” nature of place in contemporary society. From the outset, the words coexist, collaborate and contemporary draw productive and troubling relationships.
